FORT NELSON'S PARADE OF LIGHTS 2023

Please join us on Sunday December 3rd, 2023 at 5:30PM to experience a dazzling parade of lights move through downtown Fort Nelson on 50th Avenue North from The Pub to the Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre, where all are welcome to join the annual community Christmas tree light-up beginning at 6PM!
 

NorthEast Management is pleased to offer the annual Parade of Lights function that we all know and love from year's past.  We look forward to seeing you all out there for a light show that Fort Nelson always manages to come together and fire up the holiday season with.

If you are interested in participating in this year's parade, please continue down to learn more about the event, the route, requirements, rules and to fill out a registration form.

Registration deadline is Friday December 1st @ 12PM! There is no registration fee for this event.

ABOUT THE EVENT

All floats will line up on Lagoon Road staging area beginning at 5:00PM on December 3rd.

 

Please enter lagoon road from the bulk water station off of the Airport Connector.

 

At 5:30PM, the parade of lights will proceed to 50th Avenue North beginning at The Pub and continue in one non-stop line of vehicles to the Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre.

Upon reaching the Rec Centre, all participants will continue through to the West Parking lot and disperse via the highway or remain at the Rec Centre for the community tree light up taking place at 6:00PM.

All spectators along 50th Avenue North can find ample parking on both sides of the street, please respect all businesses along the route.

RULES & REGULATIONS

PLEASE READ ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS PRIOR TO COMPLETING A REGISTRATION FORM.  THANK YOU.

DRIVERS: PLEASE ENTER MARSHALING AREA BY DRIVING DIRECTLY ONTO LAGOON ROAD OFF THE AIRPORT BYPASS THROUGH THE BULK WATER STATION PARKING LOT. LINE UP BEHIND THE LAST VEHICLE IN LINE STAYING TO THE RIGHT OF THE ROAD.

NorthEast Management reserves the right to limit or exclude any entry.

Before the Parade:

  1. There shall be only ONE live SANTA CLAUS, and he will ride on the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality display (wooden, blow up and other forms of Santa Claus are permitted).

  2. All entries must be decorated FOR CHRISTMAS.

  3. All entries must submit a registration form by December 1, 2023 at 12pm.

  4. Each unit must provide its own insurance coverage and agrees, by participating, to hold NorthEast Management, its employees, event volunteers, free of liability for any accident or injury caused by or involving a unit and its vehicles or people.

  5. Vehicles will start moving up 50th avenue north at 5:30pm. Anyone arriving after 5:20pm may not be accepted. Please be on time beginning at 5:00pm to begin lining up.

  6. Instructions from Event Marshals shall be obeyed at all times.

  7. No non-event vehicles for any reason will be allowed on the Lagoon Road during staging. If you are having riders dropped off, individuals will have to walk in off the Airport Connector or off 42nd Street. This rule is for the safety of the participants and Event Marshals.

  8. Proof of vehicle insurance and driver licenses must be available upon request by event marshals.

Construction of the Float:

 

  1. All entries must be decorated with lighted materials.

  2. There shall be NO OPEN FLAMES.

  3. Floats must be safe. There will be no sharp edges or protruding nails.

  4. Railings or handlebars must be provided for all riders who are standing. All children must be sitting and supervised if under 10 years of age. There will be no exception.

  5. All drivers must possess a valid driver’s license and be licensed to drive the vehicles they are operating.

  6. All drivers are to remain with their floats in the marshaling area at all times.

  7. Towing vehicles must be in good mechanical condition and be properly serviced.

  8. In the event of emergency, the driver and all personnel on the floats must be able to exit immediately.

  9. The driver must have clear vision ahead and to the sides.

  10. Generator and/or vehicle exhaust pipes must extend beyond the decorations.

  11. All powered equipment shall be CSA/UL approved and in good working condition.

During the Parade:

 

  1. All entries must conduct themselves in an orderly fashion.

  2. Each entry is responsible for its own material and services.

  3. There will be NO STOPPING during the event once it is underway. 

  4. Christmas music may be supplied by your display.

  5. Further instructions may follow after approval of registration.
